About Our Pieces

Aegis Sterling Silver presents a unique take on the conventional sterling silver, typically composed of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, often copper. Over time, traditional sterling silver can lose its luster due to tarnishing, which is the outcome of copper's interaction with air and moisture, leading to a darker, less appealing coloration.

At Atelier Aegis, we set ourselves apart by reducing the amount of copper in our silver. In place of copper, we incorporate less reactive metals into our sterling silver alloy. This carefully crafted blend significantly diminishes tarnishing and oxidation, ensuring your jewelry maintains its radiant sheen for years to come.

What materials do you use in your jewelry?

All of our silver products use our aegis sterling silver. Sterling silver as a standard contains 92.5%, silver, and other trace materials like copper. However, copper is the main culprit when it comes to silver jewelry polishing what comes in contact with moisture sweat and our every day acidic environment. That is why without Regis sterling silver, we work with our silver vendors to ensure that we minimize the usage of trace copper and replace it with other non-oxidizing materials like germanium and _______.

Where is your jewelry made?

All of our silver is made and hand finished in New York City. Our goal is to create high quality products that make our customers proud to wear them.


However, to say that skilled artisans only exist domestically is a wildly presumptuous claim, so we may one day explore certain methods of production for certain products overseas. But to maintain our standard of quality, we will only be working with artisans, and never with factories of mass production.

I’m not gonna lie, this was one of the most difficult parts of our website to create.


Some of our diagrams (such as the necklace length finder and the bangle sizer) may not be the best representation for your anatomy, so please take us in the consideration, as you use it as a point of reference.


As we strive to accommodate all shapes and sizes, we must acknowledge that there is a statistical distribution of what we can reasonably keep in stock. If you find that your size is not available on our page, and you have the enthusiasm to wear our brand, please reach out to us, and we will work with you, or to create something that fits the most perfect you.


Please bear with us as we continue to improve the way we message how to find your best fit.

How should I care for and clean my jewelry?

By default, we recommend the matte finish for all of our silver pieces. This matte finish can be maintained with periodic removal of bodily oils through periodic wiping with a microfiber cloth or silver polishing cloth as well as very soft soap and water as you shower. But please take care to avoid any hard abrasive like loofahs and sponges.


All of our high polish or shiny finishes can be maintained the exact same way, but with even more care.


Please keep in mind that our aegis sterling silver is already a tarnish resistant alloy. If we expect you can get away with a little more neglect, when compared with other sterling silver’s, or but we all know too well that there is a limit to how much neglect anyone or anything can withstand.

What measures are you taking to ensure the sustainability of your products and processes?

Staying carbon neutral is neither easy nor free, or everyone would be doing it. As a small company based out of New York City, finding ways to be sustainable while also sustaining the brand is still something we are actively working on. But for our launch, we realize that the least we could do is minimize the amount of plastic in our packaging. That is why all atelier aegis products are shipped in plastic-free packaging down to the shipping box itself. Sadly, however, there is plastic in the tape we use to sealer boxes.

Shipping, Returns, & Exchanges

What is your return/exchange policy?

What if I receive a damaged item?

This really should not be the case, but if it does please follow our returns guidelines so that we can get you a brand new piece and our team can be really sad about what happens with the old one.

How long will it take to process my return/exchange?

Once we process, all returns and exchange pieces coming in, refunds and exchanges should go out in 5 to 7 business days.


Because all our pieces are artisan made and hand finished, we may not always have the same piece in stock. In this situation, we will let you know as soon as possible what those timelines will be. In all likelihood, once you expressed interest in moving forward with an exchange, we would pull a piece from our stock and hold it for you.

How long does it take to process and ship an order?

with all pieces in stock we typically shipped in 2 to 3 business days. If for any reason, we run out of inventory or you are requesting.

Can I track my order?

Do you offer gift wrapping or custom packaging?

We do offer a gift wrap service which you can find here. Please keep in mind as you order this add-on, that you let us know which piece to Gift Wrap if you happen to be ordering more than one.


In our effort to maintain our plastic free packaging commitment, our gift wrap will be in our reusable Japanese Kuro Bashy. (we actually think it’s pretty nice, please don’t just throw it away.)

Do you offer engraving or customization options?

At the moment, almost all of our pieces, I’ve been heavily infused with our signature lattice pattern. This unfortunately does not give us much room to your beautiful names or platitudes. However, we are not against exploring any and all ideas, and if you are seriously looking for a way to memorialize an inscription on your AA piece, please reach out to us.
